Dear

Letter from the Booster President

Dear Bluefish families:

Welcome to the 2009 swimming and diving season!  The Bluefish Booster organization would like to take this opportunity to welcome all of our new and returning swimmers, divers and their families back to the pool.

Please note that we will hold an on-site registration on Saturday, May 23 at Brookwood and all the forms needed for registration will be available online.

The Bluefish Swim and Dive Team is a self-supporting organization that relies heavily on family participation to volunteer and help with all aspects of the Bluefish team.  This includes everything from helping with fundraising events to timing and judging meets.  We will be looking for new positions to be filled on the booster board for next year, so get involved this summer to learn more about great opportunities to support the kids and our team.

The booster board has been meeting to plan the upcoming season and we would like to take the opportunity to thank all the parents for the support and hard work you have shown us in the past.  We have many great family and team activities planned for the 2009 season including cookouts, late night swims, pizza parties and a float in the Fourth of July Parade!  Our goal, as a board, is to provide your child(ren) and fun, safe place to spend some time over the summer, get some exercise and be a part of an awesome team!  As many of you know, the memories that are created by spending time as part of a summer swim team are the best!  We look forward to laying the foundation of creating these memories for your child(ren) and your family.  Here’s to a great swim and dive season.

Go Bluefish!

2009 Brookwood Swim and Dive Team Information

Registration and Fees

On-site Swim and Dive Team registration will take place on Saturday, May 23 from 12-2pm at the pool.  Swimville USA will be there to purchase our new team suits.  We will also have BRAND new spirit wear available to be ordered, this will be your only chance to order Spirit Wear for the 2009 season.

If you cannot be at the on-site registration, all swimmers and divers must submit a Registration Form, and Parental Waiver and Release Form with full payment on or before June 12, 2009 in order to participate in the first meet and order a team shirt.  Please note: Brookwood Swim Club Fees must also be paid in full by the first meet to participate.

The registration fee helps to defray the cost of the coach’s salaries, equipment repairs, ribbon cost and more.  The 2009 registration fee is $50 per child.  In addition, there is a $40 family fee that will be refunded at the end of the season if families work the minimum meet shift requirements.  See Meet Session Requirements below for details.  The $40 fee will not be pro-rated if families complete a portion of their meet session requirements.  In order to receive your $40 returned in full at the end of the season, families must complete all of their worker requirements at our home and away meets.

$50 registration fee per child (this check can combine all children in a family)

$40 family fee (separate check that will be held until the end of the season)

All fees must be paid in full by check (no cash) on or before June 12, 2009 in order to participate in the first meet. Please make checks payable to Brookwood Swim Club and send all completed forms and payment to:

Brad Hanna, 3048 Hergott Dr, Edgewood, KY 41017

Meet Session Work Requirements

Swim meets usually last about 3 hours and one meet session is ½ of the meet.  If you work the entire meet, you would be credited for working 2 meet sessions.  In a Dive meet, the entire meet is one session.  The minimum meet shift requirements are (1-2 children – work three meet sessions) (3+ children – work five meet sessions).  Please note these are minimum requirements and we may ask you to work additional sessions when needed.  We can’t run the meets without parent support.  Additionally, families will be expected to assist with the All-Star and Champ meets as needed – this is in addition to the regular season meet session requirements. You cannot make up shift requirements at All-Star and Champ Meet.

Parents may sign up for the meet worker obligations on a weekly basis. The schedule will be posted in the notebook by the office.

Equipment

Each swimmer or diver is asked to purchase a team suit.  This year we have chosen a snazzy TYR Team Alliance suit with our Blue and Orange colors and logo.  Swimville USA will be at Brookwood on Saturday, May 23 (12-2pm).  You may also stop by their store to purchase suits, goggles, bags, etc., at Swimville USA at 90 Alexandria Pike in Ft. Thomas.  Phone: 859-441-7946

We also ask that the swimmers wear a bluefish cap.  Caps can be purchased at the meets or on practice days through Brookwood.

Fundraisers

NKSL will again be asking each team to sell LaRosa’s buddy cards and we are challenging each family to sell at least 5 cards.  This will be a great fundraiser with the new LaRosa’s going in at the top of Brookwood Drive!  We will also be sponsoring 2 fundraisers at TGIF on May 18 (see attached flyer) and in July.  In addition, we have cookouts and sell concessions at our home swim meets.  Families will be asked to donate baked goods for home meets.  We welcome any and all fundraising ideas you have.
